Vineyards: Piattelli Premium Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 comes from a vineyard located in Tupungato at 3,936 feet above sea level. Planted in loamy textured soil that is poor with regard to organic matter. This soil facilitates the attainment of a perfect equilibrium between vegetation of the plant and its production, which allows us to obtain intense colors and aromas of Piattelli wines.

The grapes are grown in 12 year-old vineyards with yields of 10,000 kg per hectare.

Harvest: Picked by hand at the end of April; clusters carried out in boxes of 18 kg.

Vinification: Like with all of the Piattelli wines, the clusters are hand selected. The whole grapes are sent to the fermentation tanks, where they were cooled to 12º C to be macerated for 3 days. To start the alcoholic fermentation selected yeast is used and the pumping over is carried out to favor the most contact with the skins. The wine is constantly tasted to determine the exact time the wine separates from the skin. The malolactic fermentation is completed in stainless steel tanks. After malolatic fermentation the wine is then transferred into French oak barrels to finish its aging.

Aging: In French oak barrels during 8 months.

Varietal Composition: 90% -Cabernet Sauvignon, 10 % -Malbec.

Tasting Notes: Our Piattelli Premium Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 has aromas reminiscent of red fruits with a spicy background and touches of Vanilla. In the mouth it is a wine of medium body, with tannins and balanced acidity.
